Grand Street Settlement was founded in 1916 by Rose Gruening to serve the immigrant and low-income residents of Lower Manhattan. Over the next century, Grand Street expanded throughout the Lower East Side, Brooklyn, and the Bronx focused on supporting neighbors locally. Grand Street is a leader in programming for families with high-quality early education and childcare, safety net support and access to benefits, hands-on afterschool and summer learning, and a vibrant and supportive community for local seniors.
